Building of Nimbus & Victims
Tod started creating these creatures in his head, then he got them down on paper. Nimbus is a cloud creature with lightening-esque legs. He imagined what kind of damage Nimbus would do to a person. He used a light up toy inside his mouth to make a unique glowing vibrating string effect. This toy he collected help inspire Nimbus.
1st – Tod’s sketches
Tod first sketches out his ideas with whatever coloring apparatuses he has around – sharpies, highlighters, copics, colored pencils, etc
2nd – Paper Mache
After sketching, Tod starts building an armature (usually out of cardboard and/or chicken wire). Then he uses a paper mache mixture to slap that paper on thar. Thank you City Pulse.
3rd – Painting
Since we are both artists, we have a ton of paint around. We had a bunch of gross skin and bruise colors that worked great on these bloody victims! We use Rust-Oleum, MTN 94, and Behr paint most of the time. I have a ton of Behr paint around from the doors I paint.
4th – Placing & Decorating
Lastly, Tod placed everything in a scene. Dumpers Davey was also on the other side torturing people. Here you can see Nimbus’s mouth lit up. It was hard to capture on camera. It still got decorated more than this but I lost pictures when I lost my phone.
5th – Repurpose & Recycle!
