Holt Art Slam 2019
Yesterday I participated in the Art Slam put on by the Holt Community Arts Council which coincided with Holt Fest 2019 and Beer Works. All of these awesome goings-on happened in the Veteran Memorial Gardens of Holt, Michigan! The other three participating artists were Spiz ONerski, Larry Albert, and Tod Parkhill. The Art Slam was a 2.5 hour live painting in which each artist had their own canvas and also had 30 minutes to work on a community canvas…but most importantly all artists got free beer! All of the paintings were auctioned off at the end of Beer Works and the proceeds went to support the Holt Community Arts Council (HCAC). And of course a shout out to the Beer Works participating breweries – Ellison Brewery, EagleMonk Pub & Brewery, Blake’s Cider, Stormcloud Brewing, Elk Brewing Co, and Virtue Cider
I’m pretty delighted, not only did I get asked to come back this year but it was way larger and better than last year and HCAC is always making improvements on this event. I have so much fun every year! I also got the perk of having a free vendor tent at the Holt Fest event so Amanda and I were able to give out coupons for Paint Your Poison events and have a raffle to give away 2 free tickets to one of our upcoming events. This is the only time of the year I feel like an appreciated artist! I hope to be invited back next year and I encourage you all to come if you’re local!
