Chicago Door-spiration

If you are on my website right now you are probably familiar with some of the door painting I’ve been doing (the large modern white patterns on brightly colored doors) in the Mid-Michigan area. I recently took a trip to Chicago and was stoked to see such a variety of murals and some really crazy doors! I definitely got some great ideas for doors that are a lot different than what I’ve been doing. I think some of these could work really well in a suburban environment depending on the persons’s tastes however there’s no doubt some would probably not go over well outside of urban Chicago or other similar setting. I’d have any of these on the front of my house but I recognize everyone isn’t as crazy as Tod and I. The pink, teal, navy, and gold door (pictured as the cover of this post) is part of a larger mural in Boystown called “The Love I Vibrate” and it’s by Sandra Antongiorgi, Andy Bellomo, and Sam Kirk. It’s definitely one of my favorite murals of all time and as an added bonus that door could honestly stand alone–though I’m sure no one is thinking about doors in the same way that I am! If you are ever “mural hunting” in Chicago though I suggest you start in Pilsen since this super vibrant Mexican neighborhood is where all the art is at!
